^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The techniques and tips discussed here can help you to
lessen cold-like symptoms and dental pain.

Ways To Reduce Common Cold Symptoms
Gently gargle with warm salt water. Also, breathe
through your nose, if it's not stuffed up. This keeps air
irritants from getting at the throat, according to doctors.
Keep your throat as warm as possible.
Step 1
With the thumb, press the low spots in between each vertebra,
starting at the top of the back of neck and ending at the
spinal base. Press the points you can reach for three
seconds using moderate pressure. Do this twice.
Step 2
Massage each side of the Adam's apple, beginning near the
collarbone and ending near the chin.
Step 3
Rub the neck deeply with firm kneading motions for 15-25
seconds or more, twice daily.
Step 4
Put four fingers in the hollow at the back of the neck.
Firmly massage in small, slow clockwise circles for 10-20
seconds. Do this several times a day, if possible.
Step 5
Rub underside of knees for 10-20 seconds. Then massage the
kneecaps for 3-7 seconds.
Step 6
Press the hollows behind the earlobes for 3 to 7 seconds.
Step 7
Press a point on the stomach about three thumb widths down
from the navel. Use moderate pressure for three seconds.
Step 8
Press gently on the solar plexus for about three seconds.
This is the area one hand's width above the navel.
Step 9
Press center point of breastbone gently for 4-8 seconds
Step 10
With your thumb, press a point on the bottom of foot under
the third toe below the ball of the foot. Use moderate
pressure for 5 seconds on each foot.
Note: For all of the above, explore to find the most
sensitive spots before pressing.

Dental Pain Relief
In this section we cover some simple techniques for minor
toothache. We also show you how to be calmer while in the
dentist's chair.

Dental Pain
Ronald Melzack, Ph.D., past president of the
International Association for the Study of Pain believes
that ice can very effectively relieve aches and pains. Simply
rub the ice in circles on the place that hurts for five to
seven minutes or until numb. Also, he discovered that over
50 percent of severe dental pain can be relieved by rubbing
an ice cube into the V-shaped area where the bones of the
thumb and forefinger meet (not in the web). Do this for no
longer than seven minutes.
Step 1
If the pain is in the upper jaw, press thumb into the area
near where the jaw hinges, under the cheekbone. Explore with
your thumb for the place that brings the most immediate
relief.
Step 2
Place the thumb of one hand where the thumbbone of the other
hand meets the index finger bone. Rub in small circles for
one minute, do as many times as needed on both hands.

For Incoming Wisdom Tooth Pain
* Chew gum, bite down on a hard pretzel or a baby's teething
biscuit. This will help the tooth break through sooner
than it normally would.
* If the pain is sharp and pulsing, try applying cold packs
to the face.
* Anytime it's a dull aching pain, try applying hot packs to
the area.

For Sore Gum Relief
Put a teaspoon of sea salt in a cup of warm water and
swish some around in your mouth and spit out. Repeat every
hour. If pain persists, see your dentist.

Reduce "Dental Anxiety"
First off, during your initial conversation with the
dentist's receptionist, ask if they provide stereo head-
If not, bring your own equipment. Soothing music really works
to calm you while the dentist is drilling away. It also tones
down the associated unpleasant noises. Many medical
professionals are now using music to reduce their patient's
anxiety and pain.
Here's another technique that works to calm the nerves:
Step 1
Locate the most tender spot in the web of the right or left
hand thumb, and squeeze firmly with the thumb on top and the
forefinger on bottom for 30 seconds or as long as needed. Do
the above before and during the dental treatment.
Step 2
Hold the ring and little finger of either hand for 10-30
seconds or longer whenever you want to feel calmer.

About Mercury
Mercury fillings may be poisoning your system. According
to the Huggins Diagnostic Center, Colorado Springs, Colorado,
mercury toxicity affects the entire body by suppressing the
immune system. Some of the symptoms include: depression,
chronic fatigue, numbness in the extremities, forgetfulness,
constipation, and chest pains; states Hal Huggins, D.D.S.
Consider using composite (like white Epoxy) material fillings
instead. If you are experiencing any of the above symptoms,
consider having your mercury fillings removed.
Do yourself a favor and read all of the information you
can around the mercury controversy before your next dental
visit! For more information, call the Mercury Assist Program
at the Huggins Diagnostic Center at 1-800-331-2303. These
people will help you find a dentist in your area trained in
amalgam (silver, mercury and other metals) filling removal.
